What is Stories to Song?

Stories to Song is a signature Ohio Living Foundation initiative where older adults partner with Columbus’ vibrant music community to turn their life stories into original songs.

The result is a studio-produced album released through a live, one-of-a-kind event on October 16, 2026, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Columbus Museum of Art. More than a project, Stories to Song creates a compelling platform to celebrate and raise awareness of the aging experience. This event will generate proceeds that directly support Ohio Living’s investment in cognitive vitality programming across its statewide network.

Dementia is only one part of a person’s story; at the core are their strengths and abilities, life experiences, and relationships.  Across Ohio Living life plan communities and our Certified Memory Care Centers of Excellence, memory care is being reimagined through a deeper commitment to compassionate, person-centered support. This philosophy is brought to life through extensive employee training of the I’m Still Here® approach, which focuses on strengths, abilities, and engagement.

About The Ohio Living Foundation: Every act of generosity strengthens Ohio Living’s mission to provide adults with caring and quality services toward the enhancement of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being consistent with the Christian Gospel.

The Ohio Living Foundation funds opportunities that support growth, innovation, social connection, and whole person wellness.

Eleven residents of Ohio Living Westminster-Thurber partnered with eleven local songwriters to transform their memories, experiences, and life stories into original music. During an unforgettable production week at Oranjudio Studios, the residents heard their songs come to life alongside a full band—capturing the joy, emotion, and connection at the heart of Stories to Song.
